Our Curriculum Statement

At Tots and Bright Beginnings, we recognise that all children are at different points on the same path to building knowledge to equip them for their future lives. Therefore, we begin by getting to know the child through our All About Me Booklet and conversations with parents. We then plan our curriculum to meet the needs of the children in our care. This enables us to decide on the resources we use to create an enabling learning environment. We follow an ‘In the Moment Planning’ approach alongside our curriculum which allows us to tailor our teaching to meet the children’s interests, allowing them to flourish.
Implementation
Our highly skilled practitioners make choices on how to deliver our curriculum based on the needs of the children, underpinned by the Characteristics of Effective Learning. We encourage children to be leaders in their own learning and we ensure their voice is heard by following their interests to create a child-centred approach. We use a range of open-ended resources to facilitate teaching and learning alongside creating opportunities for children outside their daily experiences. It is these experiences and resources that give children the vocabulary and confidence to prepare them for their future.
Impact
We assess the impact of our curriculum by regularly reflecting our practice. This can lead to adapting teaching styles, changing areas of provision, providing action plans and continuing our professional development. We do termly assessments on the children through cohort and identify areas for improvement. This then allows us to close the gap by supporting children’s development through being responsive and acting promptly.
